Share your interests and passions with others by volunteering to be a Tour Guide at the Forbes House Museum.
The Museum encompasses the history of four generations of the Forbes family and their house staff. There are objects from the early days of America’s trade with China and relics from the daily lives of Irish domestic workers in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. There are artifacts from Captain Forbes’ relief mission to Ireland during the Great Famine, and rooms representative of this well-to-do Milton family’s life during the Gilded Age. And, there is one room dedicated to Mary Bowditch Forbes’ collection of Lincoln and Civil War memorabilia.
A brief training program will prepare you to lead visitors on hour-long tours of the house. The next training program will take place in the fall of 2017.
Tours are offered Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The schedule of a Tour Guide can easily be worked around other jobs and activities.
