The Dorothy Murray Forbes Museum Guide Program
Become a tour guide, gallery attendant, greeter for special events, reception assistant or general office helper.
Join our growing family of FHM Museum Guides, and get acquainted with museum programs, tours and special events. Learn about the American China Trade, the Civil War, President Lincoln and Milton history. Join our team as a tour guide, gallery attendant, special events greeter or reception assistant. You may choose to remain behind the scenes and assist the FHM staff with office projects.
As a Museum Guide, you are eligible to explore the history of an entrepreneurial family through informal monthly gatherings provided by the FHM director and staff. Get acquainted with all you need to know about giving a tour at FHM. Museum Guides receive a handbook to prepare for tours at their own pace. Guest speakers and group field trips to museums and other historic destinations are planned throughout the year.
For the Museum Guide seeking a challenge, individual research projects can be provided to you on topics of your choice.
For more information about the Museum Guides Program, call the Museum at 617-696-1815 or send an email at info@forbeshousemuseum.org.

Community Service Opportunities for High School Students
The Forbes House Museum is offering indoor and outdoor community service projects for students. Volunteers play an important role as we usher in a new season and a new era at the Jewel of Milton. There is literally something for everyone!
Current opportunities include:
• Helping the Museum’s director to organize works of art, books, photographs, and prints.
• Conducting research on the works of art in the Museum.
• Uploading information and photos into the Museum's database.
• Cataloging a new collection of donated library books.
• Inventorying works of art that need repair.
• Assisting the staff to set up a new gift shop, including researching vendors and products for sale.
• Helping the staff to organize office files and file cabinets.
• Helping the Museum staff clear out lumber to make room for a new exhibit.
• Researching the trees and gardens on the Museum grounds, and design signage.
• Helping to plan a summer Civil War event by researching re-enactor groups and Civil War music, and repairing the replica of the Lincoln Log Cabin.
• Helping to spruce up the Museum by painting the interior, moving light furniture, participating in the spring landscape clean-up, and tidying the storage room.
Students, organizations or individuals interested in any of these projects should e-mail Robin Tagliaferri, Executive Director, at r.taglaiferri@forbeshousemuseum.org or Joann Sacco, Community Relations Coordinator, at community@forbeshousemuseum.org, or call
