With great sadness, the Forbes House Museum trustees and staff announce the passing of our executive director, Heidi Z. Vaughan.

For the past decade, Heidi was committed to the success of the museum. Whether she was creating public programs, developing educational opportunities for young people, or caring for the historic grounds and buildings, Heidi was devoted to presenting and maintaining the rich history of the Forbes family, and focused on the museum serving as a community resource. She coordinated the 2022 exhibit, Opium, The Business of Addiction, in partnership with the Milton Library and Courageous Conversations Toward Racial Justice, which received the 2023 Leadership in History Award from the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). On behalf of the museum, Heidi forged connections to many other local organizations, such as the Milton Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club, the Milton Garden Club, Boy Scouts Milton Troop 5, Milton Historical Society, The Eustis Estate, the Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum, The Trustees, and the Boston Outdoor Preschool Network. Heidi invested herself deeply in the museum for the benefit of all.
The museum will be hosting a remembrance book for all who wish to leave a message or special memory. The book will be available Tuesday, October 20 – Monday, November 9 during business hours.
